Port Blair, Jan 11: Recently the outsourcing agency for providing Sanitary Workers to GB Pant Hospital reportedly removed around 36 Sanitary Workers and two supervisors from service, most of whom, were working in hospital since last many years.
Such sudden removal has come as a great shock to the Sanitary workers, who hail from very poor families.
Workers alleged that earlier many outsourcing agencies had taken contract to provide Sanitary workers to the G B Pant hospital but never such incident came to the light.
In this case not only old workers were removed for no reasons but new workers were also reportedly appointed by the outsourcing agency without delay.
Some of the workers, who were removed, today met the Director of Health Service and conveyed their problems.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Director of Health Services, Dr. S P Burma today, he said that he has already met the sanitary workers this morning and heard their grievances. He also assured to talk to the outsourcing agency, the contractor, and ask to take back the workers, at least those, who are good at work.
