Port Blair, July 30: A ceremonial “Tree Planting” was done at the premises of Government Senior Secondary School, Sabari, Middle Andaman On 30th June 2012 by the Middle Andaman forest division. Mr. P Prasad,Adhaksha, Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman planted the first sapling in the school premises followed by planting done by Mr. P Vishwakannan, DFO, Principal and students of the school.
Mr. P Prasad, Adhaksha, Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman in his address stressed upon the issue of environmental degradation. He said that every citizen should take the responsibility to protect and care Mother Nature. He expressed his concern that our Environment is in a deteriorating condition and it can only be revived through the eco sensible activities of the younger generation.
Mr. P Vishwakannan, DFO appealed to the students to pass on the message of environmental protection to the community also appealed to the students to do every bit to promote tree planting in the local community also.
Earlier Principal of the school welcomed the chief guest and expressed his sincere thanks to the forest department for carrying out a plantation drive within the school campus which in turn will motivate the students for inculcating the spirit of protecting and caring nature. He also assured to the gathering that the school will take full care of the all saplings. Mr. P Vishwakannan, DFO proposed the Vote of Thanks.
