Port Blair, Dec 18: Commenting in the issue of commotion over appointment of PSTs in Education Department, the Secretary of Education, Mr. D Manikandan today assured all candidates that the administration is always standing with candidates and will do justice to all. He also assured that the candidates of merit will only be provided offer of appointment.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha today Mr. Manikandan said that grievances have come to the Directorate in this regard and the Directorate is in the process of publishing not-selected candidates’ list along with the reason for non selection.
“It is assured that no candidates will be selected without the merit, if there is any genuine error in the list published necessary course correction would be undertaken by the directorate,” he assured.
Later, Mr. Subhankhar Ghosh the Director of Education told Andaman Sheekha that the Department is examining all the representations of candidates and the Department will do the justice for all the candidates.
Meanwhile regarding confusion over number of vacancies across General, OBC and ST categories in the final merit lists the Secretary Education said that whenever a notification is issued only the tentative number of vacancies are considered when the final merit list is drawn the number of vacancies are likely to vary based on the actual information available. “However any variation can be made only with proper justification and approval in this case also it might have been happened,” the Secretary told Andaman Sheekha.
Earlier today also more than 100 people, mostly candidates of PST, gathered outside the Education Department over this issue and demanded answer. All Office bearers of Joint Action Forum were also present with the candidates for support.
Unlike other most of the Departments, the Education Department is always open to public grievances and media questions. In this case of the assurances of Secretary Education will probably be a solace to the candidates, who are having grievances. Candidate hope that the Education Department will maintain the transparent image, it has maintained since years, as far as appointment of teachers is concerned.
