Port Blair, Dec 16: A major fire was reported from Bambooflat Jetty area early this morning, in which one Tea Shop was completely gutted and one Bakery was 50 percent destroyed while two other shops suffered partial damages.
As per reports the fire service received information about the fire at around 2.15 AM and within 2.49 AM the fire was brought under control. According to fire brigade sources the cause of fire is still under investigation. Fire tenders from Bambooflat and Ferrargunj reportedly reached the spot in no time and doused the fire.
Sources said that the fire started from the Tea Shop and spread to other shops. Eye witnesses told Andaman Sheekha that the incident may have taken an ugly shape but due to prompt response of Fire Services the fire was brought under control very soon.
