Mayabunder, Dec 10: The 45th Annual Athletic Meet of Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Mayabunder was conducted on 07th December 2018 in a Befitting manner at Netaji Ground, Mayabunder. At the outset Mr. G K Rai, vice principal, govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Mayabunder welcomed the chief guest Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman and other dignitaries on the occasion.
The chief guest for the opening ceremony Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS ,Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman hoisted the sports flag and declared the meet open along with the guest of honour Mr. G S Dubey, DEO, Mayabunder and Smt. Jagdishwari, Pradhan, GP, Mayabunder in the presence of PTA committee, parents, students and teachers.
Students of the institution demonstrated various drills with great pomp and show like mass PT, yoga, Saree drill, Pyramid Formation and a colourful multi cultural dance. Addressing the gathering on the occasion Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS recalled his childhood experience and expressed his happiness on the occasion. He informed the gathering that very soon a multi sports complex will be constructed and the Netaji ground too will be developed for the use of rural students and youths. He also blessed the students and appreciated the efforts taken by the students and teachers for conducting annual athletic meet leaving the stage he presented medals and certificates for the winners.
The chief guest for the closing ceremony Mr. Jayaseelan, Pradhan, GP, Pokkadera along with Mr. Anand Kumar up-pradhan, GP, Rampur attended the function and felicitated the champions with medals and certificates, while addressing the gathering Mr. Jayaseelan expressed his gratitude and appreciated the students and added to keep the spirit of sportsmanship and by lowering the sports flag declared the annual athletic meet 2018-2019 of GMSSS, Mayabunder closed.
At the end of annual athletic meet 2018-2019 Mr. Wilson Joy, PGT proposed vote of thanks and thanked one and all witnessed the sports meet of govt. Model senior secondary school, Mayabunder, a communication from Principle, GMSSS, Mayabunder said.
