Port Blair/ Gangajalghati, Dec 02: A Shopkeeper of a famous garment store of Diglipur, Mr. Bapi Debnath was reportedly arrested by Kolkata police, for acting as an Anti Corruption Officer and cheating others.
According to a report and video posted by www.bankura24x7.com he was arrested along with other seven persons, including two drivers on 29 November 2018.
As per reports, they were using a Toyota Innova vehicle bearing No WB 16 AG 7477 flashing a blue light in that car and putting a false board of National Anti Corruption Department, Government Of India. As per reports, they used to pose as Anti Corruption Department officers and stop Lorries of highways and earn money by threatening the drivers. The Gangajal Ghati police on a complaint of harassment acted and arrested the gang, further details are awaited.
The accused reported came to Andaman long back and established a garment shop at Diglipur, which later became a brand in Diglipur area. Later he re-based himself at Kolkata and used to visit Diglipur occasionally.
