Diglipur, Nov 13: To encourage the fishermen the District Administration and fisheries department jointly organized a sanitization and awareness camp for forming Co-operative societies today in remote Talbagan village at Diglipur The theme of the programme was ‘Economic progress and prosperity of Fishermen through Co-operative Society’.
Inaugurating the programme the Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS said that the co-operative societies should be strengthen to prosper in the society. The societies should be properly guided by the authorities for the overall development of the society and promised to organize more such camps in near future.
He further added that the administration has taken up a slew of important measures for the welfare of fishermen, including insurance schemes, providing tools and fish storage; distress alerts at sea and augments the production of fish.
The Asst Commissioner Diglipur, Asst Director Fisheries, AFDO Diglipur and large number of fishermen and villagers attended this programme.
