Port Blair, Nov 13: The daily ferry between Rangat and Long Island has become a constant source of discomfort for passengers. The appearance of the ferry is so scary that it infuses fear among the passengers, especially those who are travelling for the first time. According to the passengers the rusted ferry doesn’t seem to have ever painted and because it is poorly maintained the passengers don’t find the journey comfortable. Talking to Andaman Sheekha correspondent the Pradhan of Long Island today said that although this matter was communicated verbally earlier but the ferry was not replaced with a well maintained ferry.
People who recently visited Long Island however congratulated the Shipping Department for maintaining daily ferry from Rangat to Long Island but they say that until and unless the good or well maintained ferries are provided in this route, the tourism in Long Island will never pick up. “After all Administration is claiming to promote Long Island as tourist destination and such rusted ferries will only scare away guests,” said a passenger.
