Port Blair, Nov 10: Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO-NITI Aayog along with a team of officials from NITI Aayog arrived in A&N Islands yesterday, with the objective of reviewing the tasks progressed in the Islands under the aegis of Islands Development Agency (IDA). These include development of physical infrastructure in the Islands, development of major tourist destinations in the Islands, upcoming tourism related projects in Ross & Smith Island, Aves Island, Long Island and Neil Island, etc.
The team along with A&N Administration officials visited Hutbay yesterday for surveying/assessing the tourism potential at the Butler Bay Beach, Kalapathar beach and the Water Fall, including a few other places. In the evening, a meeting was held under chairmanship of Admiral D K Joshi PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-chairman, IDA with Mr. Amitabh Kant (CEO-NITI Aayog), Mr. Chetan Bhushan Sanghi (Chief Secretary) and other senior officials from NITI Aayog and A&N Administration. Actionable points of PM’s review of IDA projects on 30.06.2018 and other previous meetings of IDA were reviewed and support of NITI Aayog was appreciated. Further projects to follow during coming months were also discussed in detail and “way-ahead” identified.
The team is scheduled to stay in A&N Islands till 14.11.2018 and will also visit N&M Andaman and Nicobar Group of Islands.
