Port Blair, Oct 31: If anyone wishes to witness how an open air illegal bar looks like and also how one can make mockery of Prime Minister Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission, then he or she must visit the foreshore road from Dignabad to Marine in the evening hours of any weekend.
Even a visit to the spot on Monday morning is enough to understand how anti-social elements are using the entire area for consuming alcohol and drugs and also for all other kind of suspicious activities.
For beautification of city a beautiful walkway has been constructed by authorities along the foreshore road and now the same walkway is used for consuming alcohol and all kind of drugs.
Just because, during evening hours the area attracts all kind of alcoholics, the road has become totally unsafe for general public and those people who reach the area by mistake with family for an evening walk.
Andaman Sheekha visited the said stretch of road recently on Monday and found that hundreds of plastic glasses and liquor bottles are thrown all along the road. Many have left the bottles and glass right on the walkway and left. The beautiful stretch or road looks more like a garbage dumping yard.
People living around that area are now demanding regular PCR patrol in that area during evening hours to stop consumption of alcohol in open and free the area from drunkards.
