Port Blair, Oct 25: At least four major Land sliding areas have developed inside the Jarawa Tribal Reserve stretch of Andaman Trunk Road, between Jirkatang and Middle Strait check-posts.
According to ATR passengers, these land-sliding areas, have developed over the period of last five to six months but sadly authorities have turned a blind eye towards these dangerous land-sliding areas.
Till now for the safety of people only some drums have been kept on the land-sliding areas but ATR passengers claim that keeping drums along the land sliding zones is clearly not enough as the portion of road, near the land-sliding area, may collapse anytime after a heavy rainfall.
Any such accident will certainly be disastrous and claim many innocent lives.
This matter was earlier also reported in local private media units but surprisingly the administration or the NHIDCL has not taken any step in this regard.
The public and Panchayati Raj institution members of North and Middle Andaman are also surprised to see how insensitive the local Administration and NHIDCL has become towards the safety of people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Hopefully the Andaman and Nicobar Administration will take preventive measures before any major accident in Andaman Trunk Road.
