Port Blair, Oct 16: A team of 13 member sports contingent of ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI), Port Blair participated in the ICAR zonal sports (Eastern region) tournament-2018 held at Ranchi, Jharkhand during 05-08 October, 2018. The zonal sports tournament was attended by the participants from 18 ICAR Research Institutes of Eastern zone. The team ICAR-CIARI was represented in the tournament under the leadership of Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI with the coordination of Dr. Jai Sunder as Chief-De-Mission and Mr. Karuppaiah as Team Manager. Mrs. Champa Rani Das bagged a gold medal in the caroms event. Besides, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals were secured by the CIARI team comprising of Mrs. Saida Bibi, Mrs. Archana Sharma, Mr. Anup Indwar, Mr. K. Pradhan, Mr. Karuppaiah and Mr. A. Babuswamy. The Director along with the sports committee members of ICAR-CIARI congratulated and felicitated the participants at CIARI campus for their excellent performance and sportsmanship spirit shown in the zonal sports tournament.
