Port Blair, Oct 16: Along with the rest of the country our islands remembered the missile man, People’s President, Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
To commemorate the 87th Birth Anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the International Human Right Council Andaman & Nicobar State Board organized a spectacular colorful “Gala Event” on 15th October 2018 the evening at Hotel TSG Emerald, Phoenix Bay.
The Chief General Manager, BSNL, A& N Telecom Circle Mr. V. Jagadeesan was the chief guest and Senior Vice Chairperson, PBMC, Port Blair Smti. Protima Banerjee was the guest of Honour.
Welcoming the gathering the president International Human Rights Council, A & N State Board, Mr. R. Murugesan extended a warm greeting and welcomed the dignitaries and invited guests present on the occasion. He urged the noble society to generate, adequate and appropriate awareness amongst the women folk and youths on the basics of Human Rights.
On this occasion the International Human Rights Council felicitated twelve eminent persons of various field for their performance contribution of service to the society and brings laurel to our Islands. The Awardees are Mr. Hari Narayan Arora , Past President of ACCI, Mr. B. Saigal, Dy. Superintendent of Police (Retd), Mr. R. Tulasidasan, Director of Health Services (Retd); Mr. Sahadevan, Labour Commissioner (Retd), Mr. T. Ganapathy, Tehsildar (Retd), Smti. Rita Banerjee, Principal (Retd), Smti. Sunita Sharma, Senior Assistant Public Prosecutor, Ms. Saniya Subash, Martial Art National Champion & Junior Brand Ambassador (Beti Bachao Beti Padao), Ms. Debora, Cyclist, International Award Winner, Mr. Esow Alben, Cyclist, Junior World Champion Award, Winner, Ms. G.Priya, Yoga Champion, National Award Winner and Smti. T. Radha, Yoga Coach, Asian Champion Award Winner. These Award winners were felicitated with “Achievers Award”.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Mr. Jagadeesan expressed his gratitude for organizing the Award Ceremony on the special occasion of Birth Anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He appreciated the President and Members of IHRC to organize such an event to felicitate the talented girl children and dignified Officers of A& N Administration for their commendable achievements. He said, they are our back bone & our pillars of support. He congratulated all the achievers who made our Island Society proud with all the great endeavor taken over time.
The Senior Vice Chairperson, PBMC, Port Blair Smti. Protima Banerjee, while addressing the gathering stressed upon their full support to International Human Rights Council to endowing the young pupils. She also congratulates the achievers who made the Islanders proud by their distinguished work in numerous capacities. Further, She also declared to work assiduously for installation of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Idol in the heart of the city near Bengali Club, Port Blair.
Melody Mix Band orchestra presented a splendid mesmerizing songs to the audience. Mr. V. Marudhu Pandian and Ms. Koyal moderated the entire programme.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Stanley Varghese, Member IHRC.
