Port Blair, Oct 10: Reacting to a media interview of former Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha, Mrs. Baby Farida, which was published today in a local daily, three Zilla Parishad Members of Congress and one Independent Zilla Parishad member today interacted with media persons and rubbished all claims.
Addressing media the Zilla Parishad Members alleged that the mentioned fund of Rs. 35 crores by the Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha, Mrs. Baby Farida, was never received by the South Andaman Zilla Parishad.
“These are all wishful thinking (Khayali Pulaw),” said Mr. Subir Chander, Zilla Parishad Member Tushnabad and Chairman Water Works Committee of SA ZP.
The Members said that the South Andaman Zilla Parishad did not get considerable amount of fund last year because Utilization Certificates (UC) were not submitted by officials on time, which is failure of officials and also the Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha. They said that ZP members are not authorized to submit UC and hence due to failure of officials and former ZP Adhayaksha the ZP did not receive funds.
Moreover, they claimed that in absence of AE (E & M) many estimates related to Water Works, especially RO Plant could not be made and many works related to water and roads remained uncompleted for which they are not happy with the tenure of last Chairperson of South Andaman Zilla Parishad.
Mr. Deva Kumar, Chairman Work & Development Committee of ZP SA said that during his tenure as Chairman, Work & Development Committee, he distributed works to 13 members of ZP out of 18 from the funds, whichever the committee received.
