Port Blair, Sept 30: Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year on 2nd October on the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation. On this special occasion, Gandhi Jayanti will be celebrated at Port Blair on 02/10/2018.
As per programme from 0815 Hrs to 0820 Hrs there will be Offering of floral tributes by dignitaries and prayer by Teachers/School students at Gandhi Statue, Gandhi Park Near Dilthaman Tank.
From 0826 Hrs to 0907 Hrs there will be Offering of floral tributes by Dignitaries. Observance of 2 minutes silence at the venue. Ramdhun and prayers by representatives of different groups and Teachers/Students of Education Department at Gandhi Statue, Mohanpura
All the Govt. Departments, Institutions, Autonomous bodies, Corporation, Panchayat Pradhans, Voluntary organizations and villagers are requested to create community assets by Shramdaan and conduct special drive for cleanliness during the week.
Further the General Public is requested to refrain from slaughtering of animals, killing of birds, fish catching and consuming liquor on this auspicious day. The 2nd October, 2018 will be observed as “Dry Day” in homage to the Father of the Nation.
