Port Blair, Sept 18: Together with the rest of the nation ‘Hindi Fortnight’ was inaugurated on 14th September, the day when Hindi which is written in Devnagari was adopted as Rajbhasha by the Union in the year 1949. The programme started with lighting of lamp by Chief Guest Dr.Anjani Kumar Srivasrtav and was accompanied by Mr. J.Lakshmi Narayanan Head of Office, Mr. D Ansar, Drawing & Disbursing Officer and Mr. A.K.Dhanaraj, Head of Programmes and other staff members. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest highlighted the role of Hindi Poets and freedom fighters who adopted Hindi as a link language to strengthen the freedom movement. He termed Hindi as vox- populi and a real link language of these Islands. He also clarified the difference between Rajbhasha and Rashtrabhasha in detail. Speaking on the occasion Mr. J.Lakshmi Narayanan, HoO emphasized on simplyfing the usage of Hindi as Official Language so as to over come the impediments on cent percent usuage of Hindi in these Islands which comes under ‘A’ region. Mr. D.Ansar, Drawing & Disbursing Officer called upon all the staff members to do their entire work in Official language Hindi and to come forward to take part actively in each competitions. He also stated that the usage of Hindi should not be restricted to a day, week or a fortnight rather it should be continued for the whole year. Earlier, Smt R.Rita Rao, Head Clerk welcomed the Chief guest and other Officials by enchanting Saraswati Vandana. Inaugural function was followed by Poem Competition wherein Dr.Anjani Kr.Srivasstava, as Judge appreciated the efforts of all the participants with special mention to the effort specially by Mr. A.K.Dhanaraj, Head of Programme in presenting self composed poem.
The programme was concluded with vote of thanks delivered by
Mr. Deepak Ch. Tewari, Hindi Officer who also highlighted the achievements made in the calander year 2017-18 and gave brief details of the competitions to be held during the fortnight.
