Port Blair, Sept 05: The 24 hour long Bandh called by Joint Action Forum in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 6th September 2018 is expected to have mixed impact on Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Although the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the entire BJP unit of A & N Islands have distant themselves from the demand of “Implementation of Inner Line Permit” which is the main demand behind this Bandh, various other organizations under the banner of Joint Action Forum are all set to go ahead with the Bandh tomorrow.
The main gathering is expected to be at Tiranga Park since 6.00 AM tomorrow. Other than that good gathering can also be witnessed at Bhatubasti Junction, Tylerabad Junction and various other Islands.
“We are fighting for domicile to protect jobs for Islanders and also to save Andaman and Nicobar Islands from foreign intruders,” said Mr. Jijith Rekh the president of Joint Action Forum.
Meanwhile, several kinds of forward messages are doing round in Social media urging public to come forward in large number to support the Bandh. Some messages are requesting business owners to keep their shop and establishment shut while some messages are requesting public to assemble at Tiranga Park. Insiders told Andaman Sheekha that although many organizations are supporting the Bandh, some are not coming out openly and hence it is difficult to say now whether all private buses will operate normal bus service or private buses will remain off the road.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman in an appeal today requested all concerned organizations, political leaders and general public to maintain peace and tranquility.
“It should be ensured that no general public, citizens and tourists are inconvenienced in any way. Adequate arrangements have been made to ensure law & order in the District. In case of any law & order issue or otherwise, police assistance may be called for, on telephone No.100,” the appeal added.
