Port Blair, Sept 04: Call it pressure of election of a blind race to be technically correct in influx issue, after Member of Parliament, now the entire Bharatiya Janta Party has said no to ‘Inner Line Permit’ for Andaman.
In a press note issued in Hindi the President of BJP Andaman and Nicobar unit, Mr. Vishal Jolly today cleared his stand on Inner Line Permit, in which indirectly he clarified that BJP will not support the Bandh called for implementation of Inner Line Permit.
In his, very carefully drafted, technically correct, press note Mr. Jolly however did his best to keep local youths happy by adding that BJP party demanding that by declaring a cutoff date, the Government of India must issue domicile certificates to Islanders.
He said that the BJP is also demanding that by framing a Domicile Law, 100 percent jobs in Andaman, must be reserved for local youths of these Islands.
He also added that to check influx of foreign nationals in Andaman the Government must implement National Register of Citizenship (NRC) in these Islands. However, Mr. Jolly did not mention the work ‘Influx by Bangladeshi People’ for obvious reasons.
The press release has however once again proved that how much strong influence does the present Member of Parliament has in BJP’s A & N State unit even though some jolly-followers consider MP as an outsider.
Influx of Bangladeshi Nationals in North and Middle Andaman and other parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is not unknown to anyone. Experts believe, these large number of people, suspected to be Bangladeshi, also has local documents and hence in coming elections their votes will be a deciding factor. Therefore such last minute move of politicians and political parties and also silence of opposition parties in Andaman, is not surprising.
