Port Blair, Aug 24: As part of its activities, the Kala Kendra Society for promotion of Art & Culture in collaboration with an NGO namely “Rights for All” has organized Rakhi Making Competition on 24th August, 2018 at Andaman Club, Port Blair on the auspicious occasion of RakshaBandhan which is falling on 26th August 2018. Around 85 students from different schools had taken part in the competition and prepared colourful Rakhies which were put on display for viewing by their teachers and judges of the competition.
Rakhies prepared by Kumari. NishikaChiranya from Navy Children School, Kumari M. Snegha from Govt. Girls Senior Secondry and Kumari.MaitriRai from Navy Children School were adjudged first, second & third respectively. The consolation prizes were bagged by Kumar S. Shiva of Govt. Senior Secondary School, Mohanpura and Kumari CH. Monica of Govt. Model School.
While speaking as the Chief Guest, Dr.Navlendra Kumar Singh, Director, Art& Culture appreciated the efforts of all participants who showed been interest in rakhi making. He also informed about various activities which are being undertaken by Kala Kendra Society for promotion of Art & Culture. Ms.RubinaSiddiqui, President, “Rights for All’’ also spoke on the occasion highlighting the activities of “Right For All” which is working actively in the areas of Child Protection, Health and Empowerment of Children, Women and Youth through advocacy and awareness in A&N Islands.
