Port Blair, Aug 07: CIARI (Central Island Agricultural Research Institute), Port Blair has predicted that cloudy weather with moderate rainfall is likely to occur in the South Andaman during next five days. 123 mm of rainfall is expected in the area during this period. The maximum temperature in South Andaman will be 29 to 30 degree Celsius and a minimum temperature of 25 degree Celsius, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 81 to 82 %, and 75 to 78 % respectively in South Andaman. Wind speed of 25 to 31 km/h is expected from South Westerly direction.
CIARI has advised the rice farmers of the South Andaman that proper drainage should be made for long duration paddy nursery and for paddy transplanted to the rice main field, the bund must be kept open at 20 cm height.
CIARI has advised the vegetable growers to protect the vegetable nursery bed by providing shelter and for making provisions to drain the excess water.
Banana planters have been advised to make ridges and transplant the healthy banana suckers. Similarly those engaged in cow rearing must provide anthelmintic treatment to their cows with the consultation of veterinary doctors.
The CIARI AGROMET forecast is applicable from 8th of August to 12th of August 2018.
