
Port Blair, Aug 05: With the intervention of Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands now camping at Delhi, the 07 students who were denied to get admission in Class IXth in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya, at Panchawathi, N&M Andaman due to change of district, are being allowed to get admission in the IX class.
Total 52 candidates from both the district of South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman appeared for lateral entrance test for admission in the Class IXth in JNV at Panchawathi, at Rangat, N&M Andaman. Out of these, total 21 candidates i.e 14 from N&M Andaman and 07 candidates from South Andaman district passed in the lateral entrance test conducted by the JNV on 19.05.2018. 14 candidates from N&M Andaman allowed to get admission but the 7 candidates namely Ms.Madhu Mita Mandal, Sneha Dea, Momita Haldar, Ritika Biswas, Diya Dayal, T. Ayush, Anju Bonika from South Andaman district who qualified in the entrance test have been denied to get admission due to change of district in view of guidelines prescribed by the JNV Samity, Ministry of HRD.
When the matter brought to the notice of the Member of Parliament, A&N Islands by the parents of these students, he immediately took up the matter with the Ministry of HRD, New Delhi with the request to allow these students to get admission during academic session 2018-19 and also to allow such students in future till the existing JNV school set up at Chouldhari in South Andaman is upgraded upto Sr. Secondary level in view of the fact that in the existing school of JNV at Chouldhari which has started functioning from 2017-18 from class VI is now upgraded up to VIIth class only.
Pursuant to the follow up and demand of MP, ANI, the Commissioner, JNV, HRD Ministry has communicated that these 07 students from South Andaman will be allowed to get admission in JNV Panchawathi at Rangat during academic session 2018-19 and orders in this regard is being issued.
