Port Blair, July 31: A 03 days training of health workers was conducted on Non Communicable Diseases at Dr. R. P Hospital, Mayabunder from 26th to 28th July 2018.
Dr. Avijit Roy, Deputy Director (Health) /NO (NPCDCS) along with ToTs Smti. Hapsa Bibi and Smti. Lizzy Sudesh, Tutor, School of Nursing have imparted the 03 days training of health workers. Dr Omkar Singh MO I/C North & Middle Andaman highlighted the importance of NCD & its intervention.
A total of 35 health workers from the health institutions of North & Middle Andaman attended the training.
The training covered screening and diagnosis of common Non-Communicable Diseases such as Hypertension, Diabetes and three common cancers (Cervical, Breast and Oral cancer) among the population.
Theoretical and practical sessions along with demonstrations were undertaken with the focus on building the knowledge and skills of the health workers in undertaking screening, identification of cases for referral, follow up and health promotion in the community.
Other training will be initiated in the process of reduction of NCDs and its complications in future.
