
Port Blair, July 26: A large numbers of qualified students who have cleared the CTET examination for teaching profession were interacted with Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament recently and informed that the last selection for the post of teachers was held in 2016 and thereafter, the department of Education, despite of availability of the vacancies under the various category of post of teachers including the post of PSTs, no action was taken to fill the post for two years. Resulted in which, some eligible qualified candidates who have cleared the mandatory requirement of CTET examination for teaching profession have lost their opportunity for participating the selection process now notified by the Education Department due to over age.
It is further informed that similar situation was in the selection year of 2013, in year.2015 and also in the year of 2016. However, the Administration considering the factual position has allowed relaxation of age limit for 8 years beyond the maximum age limit of 30 years in all the last three occasions.
In view of those past experiences, these deprived eligible candidates are also expecting similar relief from the Administration and sought for the age relaxation of eight years over & above the prescribed age limit of 30 years.
Since, the issue pointed out by the eligible candidates are genuine and legitimate, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament vide his letter dated 25/07/2018 has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, (Administrator)A & N Islands who is competent in this case to consider the request and to give exemption of age limit for 8 years beyond the maximum age limit of 30 years as a special case in the larger interest of the of the eligible candidates who have cleared the CTET examination for the Teaching profession.
