Port Blair, July 23: Mr. Vishal Jolly, State President BJP, A&N Islands, in a letter addressed the Lt. Governor, has request to provide Equal Pay For Equal Work for Resource Person and Contract Faculty in Colleges under A & N Administration.
He mentioned that, the educated unemployed youths of these isles are aiming for government sector particularly the masters and above degree holders due to lack of job opportunity in the private sector.
Working as Resource Person in a college is an opportunity to them for spreading the education as well as building the next generation to the right path.
At present, more than 200 resource persons are engaged in different colleges in A&N Islands, of which many of them are served as Resource Person for more than 10-15 years. The resource person played a vital role on Higher Education and they are the one of the important pillar for smooth functioning of the colleges.
The resource person services are used upto 9 months in a year and their pay is less than Rs. 10,000/- in some month and a maximum of Rs. 18,000 as an average.
There is no consolidated pay followed to resource persons as like contract faculties. He urged to treat the Resource Person equally to Contract faculty and provide them same consolidated salary.
He revealed that, this shall be the real honour to the Resource Person, who serve the A & N Higher Education for long term and lost their candidature on believe that they will get opportunity while administration create permanent job in the future.
