Port Blair, July 20: Indian Coast Guard in coordination with GB Pant Hospital and Village Panchayat of Namunaghar conducted a medical camp and community interaction programme (CIP) on 19 Jul 18 at Panchyat Hall at Namunaghar Village of South Andaman District with special focus on “Healthy life along with Clean and Green Initiatives”.
The services of three specialist doctors from GB Pant Hospital and three doctors from Coast Guard were availed in Medical camp. 280 residents from local area attended the camp and free medication alongwith medicines were provided to them.
During the Community Interaction, fishermen folks were educated on issues pertaining to uses of safety and survival equipment at sea by Demonstration of “NUKKAD NATAK”, which was organized by INTACH, an NGO associated with development of art & culture. The importance of distress toll free No. (1554), usage of DATs and techniques for survival were also demonstrated to all. Fishermen were appraised that they can act as source of information and be eyes and ears of security services, which can be helpful in protecting the national maritime and coastal assets.
Inspector General MV Pathak, Commander Coast Guard Region A&N visited the medical camp and met doctors, volunteers and village pradhan. During his interaction with the local population, he requested participants of the camp to spread awareness about “Safety and Security issues”, “Health Issues”, “Drug Abuse” and “Swachhta hi Seva Mission” to Isle populace.
