Port Blair, July 19: The Police Training School, Prothrapur, A & N Islands has organized two days course on “Intellectual Property Rights” from 17/07/18 to 18/07/18 for in-service Police personnel from the rank of Constable to Inspector under the overall supervision of Smti. Amrutha Guguloth, IPS, Principal, PTS, Prothrapur. The main objective of the course is to enhance the knowledge of the participants to take legal action on receiving of information on violation of Intellectual Property Rights. The course was inaugurated by the Vice Principal, PTS. During the course Shri. K. Michal Raj, DANIPS, Vice Principal, Shri. M.K. Das, Ld. APP, District & Session Court, Inspector R.K. Sharma, CLI (PTS) and SI Mohd. Elias, PS CCS delivered informative lectures on the topics like-Definition & law related to Intellectual Property Rights in India, types of Intellectual Property, Understanding counterfeiting & piracy, the impact of counterfeiting and piracy across different stakeholders, distinguish between fake & original products, Enforcement of intellectual Property Rights and Adjudication: Role of Police, current laws applicable on counterfeiting & privacy, Trademark Act, 1999, Copyright Act 1957, Design Act 2000, Penalties and remedies thereof along with landmark judgments and effective measures as Sea Port, Airport and territorial borders etc. Altogether, 21 Police personnel of various Police station/units participated in this course.
