Port Blair, July 10: A minor girl from Andaman, who was rescued by police team of Kanchipuram recently, has been given safe shelter at a Child Care Institute in Chennai.
As per details the 16 year old girl had gone to Chennai with one of her Male friends (resident of Haddo) but after reaching Chennai she faced abuse, following which she contacted police and finally she was rescued.
Meanwhile a police team from Port Blair was also not give access to the girl as the case is not investigated by Chennai Police. The Child was not even handed over to her mother, who is presently in Chennai it is learnt for valid legal reasons. Till now as per experts, preventive steps taken by Chennai Police and Andaman Police, is as per the law, which will only ensure the safety of the girl.
Meanwhile, until the investigation is completed it is not clear that who is the prime accused in this case and how many accused persons are actually involved in this matter.
The good news is that there is an indication that the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Chennai might handover the child to CWC of Andaman after which she will be shifted to a safe Child Care Institute in Andaman.
Meanwhile, it is still a big question that why the 16 year old girl was allowed by her mother to travel alone with a Male friend to Chennai.
POCSO cases are on the rise in Andaman, which somewhere indicates that Andaman needs to take some serious measures to spread awareness in this regard in school level.
Andaman Sheekha has been reporting about almost all POCSO cases just to sensitize the society about present condition of Andaman Society and keep subject of safety of girl child, alive in all possible public forums.
Hope in this case the girl will finally reach in a safe location and the accused are arrested and punished.
