Port Blair, June 24: It’s a matter of irony that our government, which is claiming every now and then to electrify the remotest villages of our country, is finding it difficult to provide uninterrupted power supply in Little Andaman Island merely due to shortage of fuel.
The offices and houses in the Island have been receiving power for just around 7 hours a day for the past few weeks. The harassing situation prevailing in Little Andaman Island could have been easily avoided if the concerned department had acted before and arranged for the diesel well on time.
Our Little Andaman correspondent adds that on Saturday and Sunday there was no one from Electricity Department at Little Andaman to comment on this issue.
