Port Blair, June 22: Andaman & Nicobar Islands is witnessing uncontrolled growth in the number of new motor vehicles which is not only congesting the roads but also increasing the number of accidents. In order to have proper regulation of vehicular traffic, State Transport Authority conducting a study to assess the carrying capacity of these Islands in respect of Motor Vehicles through an authorized agency. As such requests for issuance of fresh NOC for operating commercial vehicles is being considered after the conduct of the study.
However, it is informed to the public that STA has decided in the last meeting to issue permits for those applicants who are already in possession of NOC or permit/NOC to ply vehicle in a single District and have applied for permit to ply the vehicle in North, Middle & South Andaman Districts. Those applicants are advised to apply for permits to STA immediately.
