Port Blair, June 18: The Stewart Gunj Unit of Jamaat–e-Islami Hind (JIH) Andaman Zone organized an Eid Milan Programme on the eve of Eid-ul-fitr on 16th June, 2018 at Panchayat Hall, Stewart Gunj in South Andaman. The programme started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Br. C. Ummer farooque. Jb C.Ali Umari, Principal Manfaul Islam Masjid, presided over the function and he briefed the teachings of the Holy Quran to the audience. In his keynote address, Jb.C.Yousuf, Secretary JIH Andaman zone presented the essence of celebrating Eid-ul-fitr after the completion of Ramadan, the month of fasting.
Shri. Jatan Lal Thak, an eminent personality of the area expressed his happiness in attending the program. He praised the organizations like Jamaate Islami Hind and Hindu community of South Andaman, who have been actively organizing Eid Milan, Deepawali Milan and Iftaar parties in the area during the last five years. These events have become a regular feature and serve the purpose of bringing various communities together. Shri. Dilip Kumar, A.E. Electricity Department, Ferrar Gunj also expressed his views on the occasion. The programme was moderated by Br.P.Yousuf and concluded with the vote of thanks by Br. T.Abdul Salam. The event was followed by a feast, which was attended by around hundred people belonging to various faiths.
