Port Blair, June 18: The joint team of Andaman and Nicobar Police and IRBn has been successful in apprehending three more Burmese Poachers from ‘Junction Creek’ area of Little Andaman, it leant today. With this, total number of poachers apprehended till now from Little Andaman forest has increased to six.
The apprehended poachers were brought to Hut Bay Police Station this afternoon from where they will be shifted to CCS, Port Blair.
Sources in Police Department said that it is expected that nearly 15 to 20 more poachers might be present inside the Jungle of Little Andaman area, where the Police and IRBn teams are presently conducting massive combing operation.
As per sources the SDPO of Havelock Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, is leading the combing operation and is present inside deep forest to trace out the poachers, while the SHO PS Hut Bay Sub Inspector. Saravanan and his team are providing all logistic support from Hut Bay.
It is worth mentioning here that without the support of Coast Guard and in absence of police boats, the present combing team is operating with the help of hired private dinghies, amidst choppy sea and unfavourable weather, risking their lives, which is highly appreciable.
