Port Blair, May 29: Sub Inspector ML Paul, incharge of Garacharma Fire Station, who is the first Fire Officer to reach to the fire Accident site of ‘The North Reef’ with his team, suffered nose bleeding during fire fighting, due to intake of excessive smoke.
According to sources the first team, from Garacharma which reached to the spot immediately, worked very efficiently under Sub Inspector ML Paul’s leadership and managed the situation well till the other Fire Tenders joined fire fighting. Sub Inspector Paul was shifted to G B Pant Hospital, where he was discharged at around 2.00 PM and is said to be safe now.
All Fire Fighters in Andaman and Nicobar Islands have shown tremendous courage whenever there is a fire accident and the present fire accident in the North Reef Hotel was a huge challenge for the fire fighter too. As expected the fire fighters in this case also did wonderfully well despite acute man power shortage and even shortage of Breathing Apparatus.
Hope the Administration will equip the Fire Services well so that these brave fighters of A & N Fire Service can work without any fear and continue to save peoples’ life and properties.
