Port Blair, May 28: Andaman and Nicobar Command Cycling – Cum – Trekking Expedition completed its first phase covering a distance of 341 km from Diglipur to Hutbay on 27 Jun 2018. The team of 5 officers, 03 JCOs and 23 Soldiers interacted with the local population and visited schools and colleges. The team was enthusiastically received and greeted by people throughout the route and were appreciated for their sense of adventure & their messages on national integration, Swachhta Abhiyan, education to all, Physical fitness and honesty and integrity. The team also educated the locals on career opportunities in the Armed Forces. On 23 May 2018 Team’s Medical Officer provided emergency medical care to a family enroute Rangat which met with a road accident. On 28 May 2018 the Team sailed from Hut Bay to Carnicobar commencing their second Phase of the Expedition. In this phase the team will sail across islands of Nicobar group and carry out cycling trek, visiting schools and government establishments on various islands spanning a distance of approx 220 km and trekking 45 km in Great Nicobar Island concluding the expedition at Indira Pt on 03 May 2018.
