Port Blair, May 25: Teachers of Nirmala School are going through a tough time as they have not been paid monthly salary since last two months. Many teachers, who are not financially sound and those who are having serious medical issues, are worst hit.
As per information, Nirmala Senior Secondary School is an aided Minority Educational Institution and for this reason, Grant-in-Aid file was sent to the Directorate of Education in the month of March 2018 and there was some objections from the Directorate of Education, Port Blair that Nirmala School is not recognized and school was advised to apply for extension of recognition of the school.
But due to various objections by some officials of Education Department the file of Grant-in-Aid got struck and salary of teachers got delayed.
Teachers who are badly hit by such delay alleged that the school is receiving Grant-in-aid since last 50 years but this is the first time when there is such delay in release of salary for reasons unknown.
Meanwhile on request the Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray intervened into this matter and spoke to senior officers of Education Department in this regard this afternoon, after which the file was reportedly moved forward. Later talking to Andaman Sheekha the MP said that the pending salary will be released by June 2018.
Teachers are demanding that recognition and release of salary are two different things and therefore for any reason salary of teachers must not be delayed by the Administration.
