Port Blair, May 20: DSS ship MV Chauldari developed a leak below waterline at Rangat on 17 May. INS Bangaram of the Andaman and Nicobar Command provided immediate assistance to the distressed ship. The leak was successfully arrested under testing conditions. A Damage Control Team with equipment from INS Bangaram was positioned onboard MV Chauldari for any emergency and the distressed ship was escorted safely to Phoenix Bay in Port Blair on 19 May 18.
