Port Blair, Apr 18: A fishing dinghy from Junglighat area reportedly capsized near Gol Tikery coast of Middle Andaman on 16 April 2018.
According to late information received here the accident occurred after the dinghy reportedly hit underwater rock formation, close to the coastal area at around 2.50 PM. As all six fishermen were good swimmers, they left the dinghy considering the danger and reached the sea shore and waited for help. Soon another fishing dinghy passing by noticed the incident and reported this matter to PS Baratang.
After receiving information the police team of PS Baratang, immediately swung in action and with the help of two other engine dinghies and local as well as PMF divers, brought the capsized dinghy out of water. The advance team of Police, which reached the spot by 3.50 PM, rescued the fishermen and brought them back safely. The damaged dinghy was brought to Baratang on the same day by evening and has been repaired this morning.
