Port Blair, Apr 02: The Annual General Body Meeting of the Rural Development Sub-Committee of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association was held on 30th March,2018 at Port Blair under the chairmanship of Mr. S K Pandey. Employees of the Rural Development Department posted at South Andaman area and other parts of the islands attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting Mr. T S Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association said the attack on working class as whole and Central Government employees in particular are mounting day by day. Six lakh posts are lying vacant in various ministries and departments for the last many years and now the Government at Centre has issued orders to abolish all posts lying vacant for more than five years. He exhorted employees for more unity as bigger struggles are on the anvil under the aegis of the Confederation of Central Govt. employees and workers. Mr. Ch.Ramamurthy a senior leader of the Association while addressing the gathering recalled various struggles and achievements of the Association. Mr. Mohammed Yunus invited the attention of the Association leadership to various pending issues of the RD department employees. Later a number of resolutions were adopted in the meeting including publication of posting profile of all employees, implementation of uniform transfer policy, creation of more promotional avenues, etc. The meeting unanimously elected Mr. M Rajendra Kumar as Vice President, Mr. Bikash Mondal as Secretary and Mr. Harikrishna as Joint Secretary of the Sub Committee for 2018-19.
