Port Blair, Mar 28: Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ Programme launched by the Prime Minister of India on 31st October 2016 envisages strengthening of existing emotional bonding between people of our country by promoting and showcasing the rich heritage and culture, tourism, educational specificities etc. of each state allowing people to understand and appreciate the diversity that is India, while fostering a sense of common identity. Lakshadweep is the partner UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the first year Under UT-UT Engagement Matrix.
As part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the UTs of A&N Islands and Lakshadweep for effective implementation of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ programme, the A&N Administration is deputing a 24 member Cultural delegation to Lakshadweep. The Cultural Contingent will proceed to Lakshadweep on 29th March and shall return to Port Blair on 4th April 2018. The Cultural Contingent comprises of artists from all the three districts. Nicobari folk dance group from Car Nicobar, Bangla Folk Singers and Karen Folk dance group from North & Middle Andaman and artists including Cultural representatives from South Andaman will interact with their counterparts in Lakshadweep besides organizing Cultural programme, live painting, quiz among school students, screening of documentary film shows etc.
