Baratang, Mar 25: The journey through Andaman Trunk Road is becoming more and more challenging day by day. Call it well planned act of Jarawa tribes to disturb convoy or a careless act to collect food, a wild Jackfruit tree was cut by some Jarawa tribes, which fell on the Andaman Trunk Road on Saturday morning.
When the convoys from both the sides reached the area, which is nearly 1.5 km inside Middle Strait Jetty, people were surprised to see ATR completely blocked. According to passengers they could see Jarawa youths still collecting Jackfruits from the said tree and other Jackfruit trees around.
Finally when the message is passed to Middle Strait Police Check Post a police team with teams of Fire Brigade and Forest reached the area and cleared the Andaman Truck Road.
Finally the first convoy from Jirkatang reached Middle Strait by 9.30 AM.
This is still not clear that why the tree was cut in such a manner by the Jarawa tribes, when they know that Andaman Trunk Road is used daily by convoys of vehicles four times a day.
Because of obstruction of BSNL Network in Middle Andaman more details in this regard could not be obtained however some insiders told Andaman Sheekha Jarawa tribe members were collecting large number of Jackfruits for some celebration while a few alleged that this was a well planned act of some Jarawa men, who were not given a dinghy, even after they demanded for the same a few days back. However, police guards present with the convoy did not allow public to reach near the fallen tree and hence more details are still unavailable.
Leave the Jarawa people alone, stop this convoy, get out
