Port Blair, Mar 20: In view of increasing complaints of rash & drunken driving in the Municipal areas from general public, the Traffic Branch has conducted a special drive on 17/03/2018 by placing of barricades on various traffic junctions. During the drive, around 1500 vehicles were checked by the traffic teams of traffic police personnel and 351 vehicles were found in violation of various rules and sections of Motor Vehicle Act & Rule and they were challaned accordingly.
Moreover, during the special drive, 19 drivers/riders were booked for drunken driving under relevant sections of MV Act, 1988.
The Traffic Police once again cautions the vehicle users to obey the traffic rules and regulations and the traffic signals and signs displayed at various junctions and places. Action would be taken against violation of traffic rules as per law.
