Port Blair, Mar 19: Swachh Bharat drives and programme organized by Port Blair Municipal Council but it seems nothing has improved the civic conditions of city.
With the passage of time, officials of PBMC and other departments are just conducting different programmes and seminar to impart knowledge about swachh bharat. However, still there are ample of areas where basic civic amenities are not available. It seems that Swachh Bharat mission is only on papers and seminars as there many garbage dumps which are still causing different health problems to the people.
For example inside Industrial Estate Area of Bhatubasti, the garbage dump has not been cleared for several weeks now. People inside Bhatubasti Industrial Estate area complain that instead of complaining no one from PBMC is coming to collect garbage.
Sources said that there are some issues between PBMC and Industry Department regarding payment for collection of garbage but the officially this matter could not be confirmed as the Secretary of PBMC was not available for a comment even for trying two long days.
