Port Blair, Mar 18: Indian Coast Guard conducted a beach clean-up drive at Junglighat Passenger Terminal area at Port Blair on 18 Mar 18 towards government of India flagship programme “Swachha Bharat Abhiyan”. The service has been effectively contributing not only towards Prime Minister’s visionary step of clean India campaign but also has taken step towards “Swachha Sagar Abhiyan” through putting efforts towards beach clean ship in these pristine Islands.
The event was conducted by Indian Coast Guard personnel where in approximately 500 empty bottles along poly covers were collected and handed over to municipal for further disposal. Tour operators were also apprised towards achieving Swatchh Sagar Abhiyan. The event was witnessed and applauded by locals and they also extended helping hand towards cleaning the area. During the drive, banners and placards were displayed to sensitize the visitors against polluting the pristine Islands..
