Great Nicobar, March 18: A fire broke out from a General Store at Campbell Bay, Zero Point area yesterday early morning at 0100 hrs. No one was injured in the incident but property worth lakhs was destroyed.
Prima facie it appears that the fire caused by short-circuit in the electricity meter installed inside the shop. As per reports, the fire was reported first in the General Store and then fire reached to the Bakery shop, situated next to the General Store.
The building belongs to Mr Paramjit Singh who has suffered a loss of around Rs 07-08 lakhs in this Fire Accident. The general store owner Mr John has suffered a loss of around Rs 06 lakhs, however it is learnt that he has some insurance cover. Mr Uma Shankar Singh the bakery shop owner also suffered a loss of Rs 05-06 lakhs, it is learnt. A team of Fire Brigade anyhow controlled the fire.
