Port Blair, Mar 16: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament while on Constituency tour in A & N Islands, the ASHA Workers engaged under the scheme of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and working at various rural areas, had raised that they are rendering their services for various works related to Health Conscious/ & awareness, besides vaccination of epidemic diseases and child care programs, but the honorarium now being paid to them is very meager, which is not even enough to meet the incidental charges and journey expanses.
Hence the ASHA workers are consistently demanding for enhancement of their Honorarium. Since the demand of the ASHA worker is genuine, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, M.P. Andaman has taken up the issue with the Administration vide letter dated 13.03.2018 for enhancement of their honorarium from Rs: 1000/- to 3000/- per month”.
