
Port Blair, Mar 15: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament met with Mr. AK Garg, Chief Executive Officer, NTCP Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd on 14.3.2018 at NTPC Headquarters, New Delhi to discuss about the setting up of 15 MW Power Plant in South Andaman District to deal with the power crisis.
The Chief Executive Office, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd reportedly informed him that the work for “Purchase of power through DG sets to deliver 5 MW continuous power supply to the 33 KV Grid of Electricity Department at Chatham Power House, South Andaman” has been awarded to a “M/s Aggreko Energy Rental India Pvt. Ltd” (a Pune based company) through the competitive bidding.
A “power supply agreement” (PSA) in the matter has been executed with the Electricity Department of A & N Administration and the plant will start for generating the power from 3rd April, 2018.
The Chief Executive Officer, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd further informed that the tender for 10 MW power plants at Bamboo flat, South Andaman District has been also floated and the Technical Evaluation is under process.
It is also assured that the successful bidder may be awarded the work during March, 2018 and probably, the plant will be in operational during May, 2018.
With the addition of 15 MW power generations, it is expected that there would be no power crisis as much as facing from past few months and the Islanders may gets some relief from the load shedding.
