Port Blair, Mar 13: On one hand the public of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are demanding immediate construction of atleast one more toilet block at Jirkatang Check Post, on the other hand the Ferrargunj Panchayat is unable to maintain even the existing lone Toilet Block in the area.
According to reports nearly six months ago the roof of Toilet Block of Jirkatang suffered heavy damage and one portion of the roof including the ceiling in Male urinal area collapsed.
As a result during rain, it becomes impossible to use the Urinal by public, who are always in urgency due to convoy timings.
The cleanliness of Jirkatang Toilet Block is another major issue for public and visiting tourists despite of the fact that the Ferrargunj Panchayat is earning nearly Rs. 5000 per day from the toilet users, which means nearly 1,50,000 per month.
Sadly despite earning so much the Panchayat is neither able to maintain the toilet block nor repair the same.
Hope the Secretary of Panchayat will find some time to visit the area in coming future and see the ground reality himself.
