Port Blair, Feb 27: The Passenger vessel, MV Swarajdweep which is in Dry dock since December 05th, 2017, is all set to provide its services after nearly two weeks in Port Blair- Mainland- Port Blair sector, which will bring a big relief for the islanders, especially those, who are largely dependent on its services.
The Passenger Ship MV Swarajdweep was at Dry Dock for around two and a half months and such long time in Dry Dock brought huge criticism for the Directorate of Shipping Services.
People started raising questions that why for such a long time the ship is taking for Dry Docking. Not only this, people are also raised questions that why the ship is not providing services even after reaching Chennai on 12th Feb, 2018.
Highly placed sources also confirmed that the ship developed some technical snags in one engine, when the ship left Sri Lanka but when questioned, the Deputy Director Shipping Services, Mr R Veeraih today told Andaman Sheekha that such information has not been received by the DSS from the Ship Staffs.
However he assured that if the DSS will find any such report genuine, the DSS will take appropriate action on the Dry Docking agency.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Director Shipping Services Mr R Veeraih added that after Dry Docking and under water inspection, the ship reached Chennai on 12th Feb, 2018 and it got space to berth at Chennai Port only on 14th Feb, 2018.
“Since then the certificate clearance of the ship is under process and there are possibilities that the ship will get the clearance in another two weeks after which the ship will start its services from Chennai itself,” Mr Veeraih said.
