Port Blair, Feb 26: The Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank Ltd. has organised a programme for the Distribution of Certificates for Tailoring & Fashion Designing as a part of its’ initiative for Skill Development of SHGs on 26th Feb, 2018 at 11.00 am at the Conference Hall of the Bank.
Mr. B V S Prasad, General Manager, NABARD was the Chief Guest of the programme. The programme was also attended by Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Vice Chairman of the bank, Mr. K Murugan, Managing Director and Mr. Thiyagrajan, Manager, NABARD, SHG members and a large gathering of the group members.
At the Inaugural address, Mr. K Murugan, Managing Director welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present on the dais and conveyed his wishes for the successful completion of the programme. He further thanked NABARD and the Management of the bank in promoting the skill development of SHGs in all the rural areas of the Islands. He also thanked General Manager, NABARD for extending his valuable support to the bank for conducting the programme.
Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Vice Chairman of the bank in his keynote address informed that many SHG members are benefited from this kind of programmes organised by the bank. He urged to all the SHG members to come forward and engage themselves in some or the other activities to improve their socio-economic conditions. He also added that Cooperative Bank is extending support to the group members by way of sanctioning loans for Tailoring machines having a monthly loan installment of Rs. 156/- only for a period of 5 years for those SHG members who have completed the training programme. He also urged the group members to avail the schemes of the bank. He also informed the gathering that there is very limited scope of Govt. employment and there is no industry, hence it is the need of the hour for the people to come forward and strive for self-employments.
The Chief Guest and other dignitaries distributed Certificates to 30 nos. Candidates who have successfully completed the Tailoring & Fashion designing courses of the bank held in the last year.
Mr. B V S Prasad, General Manager, NABARD in his address informed the gathering that NABARD has been instrumental in sanctioning MEDP (Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programme) to the State Cooperative Bank which is the key partner of NABARD in conducting various programmes. He also added that the bank may approach NABARD for the introduction of advanced courses to the participants of Basic courses. He further urged the people present on the occasion to come forward and join themselves in various activities like Tailoring, Fashion designing, Embroidery works, etc for a better living.
The programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Smt. Elizabeth Mary, Women Development Officer of the bank.
