Port Blair, Feb 25: The Andaman and Nicobar Forest Department organized a snake-handling training session at the JNRM college yesterday. Around 60 students participated in the training session including the principal of JNRM Dr. Neelam Francis Xavier.
NCC cadets and students from other departments from the college like Zoology learnt to handle snakes.
The theme of organizing the training session was to create awareness on the importance of snakes and help the interested person to handle snakes in the right way.
At the training, forest department staffs demonstrated how to handle snakes.
Participants handled non-venomous snakes. The exercise was to help them to get over their fear. Rat Snake and King Cobra snake were also brought by Forest Department for the demonstration.
The snake handing techniques was taught by Deputy Ranger Manjit Singh, the Snake man of Andaman and his team.
