Port Blair, Feb 18: Several National Dailies are continuously writing about Andaman and Nicobar Islands these days and in most of the cases the articles are bound to impact Andaman Tourism in a negative way.
On 17 February, India’s leading English Daily, The Hindu published a prominent article with caption “It’s 2018, but still tough to get online in the Andamans” written by Lalitha Sridhar and today The Hindustan Times published a prominent article “The coast is not clear: Crocodile attacks on the rise in the Andamans” by Omkar Khandekar. Although the articles are based on facts and there is nothing questionable about these articles but somewhere these articles are bound to leave a negative impact about Andaman among people who wish to visit Andamans.
These articles are now widely shared in all local social media groups and in most of the groups the common feeling is that the Andaman Administration is solely responsible for such poor state of affair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Call it failure of system, lethargic attitude of officers, negligence or lack of farsightedness, Andaman has become a subject of such negative news item in national dailies.
Many believe that if the Administration does not wake up now and take some serious steps to improve the situation on the ground level, in future because of such negative publicity, people will stop coming to Andaman, which will be the end of Andaman’s lone industry, the Tourism Industry.
